Napa Valley Proprietary Red Wine

The Basic Black is loaded with complex undertones which interplay beautifully with exploding aromas of blackberry, violets, cocoa, cured ham, cinnamon and wet earth. Flavors of dark chocolate and dark fruits are integrated and proportioned across a foundation of dense mid palate tannins which lead to a long finish. This landmark 2017 wine is a co-fermented reserve blend of 28% Tempranillo, 26% Syrah, 22% Petite Sirah, 12% Early Burgundy, and 12% Carignane. Only cases 448 produced.

Harvest Dates: September 11 & 13, 2018

Alcohol: 14.5%

Vintage Notes: The 2017 growing season started out with ideal weather conditions. After a very wet winter, there was plenty of moisture available to the vines which made for vigorous canopy growth and a healthy crop load. Summer temperatures were well above average and then a series of heat spikes at the end of the growing season quickly pushed the Zinfandel to perfect ripeness.

Ageability: The lovely finish is the signature of this elegant and remarkably balanced red wine blend that is immediately drinkable and worthy of 5-7 years more.
